Terms & Conditions
Please take the time to read through these before continuing as these form part of terms of business and you will have deemed to have accepted them by signing the order form.
The minimum required to secure a car is a £300 deposit unless agreed otherwise, this is non-refundable but in the unlikely event you decide not to proceed with the purchase we will be happy to apply this to another vehicle that is purchased from ourselves and is subject to statutory rights. A further deposit may be placed to extend the collection date which would secure the car for an additional 2 weeks. Deposits will be forfeited if you fail to collect the car at the arranged time. The car will then be placed back for sales and prior notice will not be given.
Once a deposit has been accepted you have deemed to have inspected the vehicle and have accepted the vehicle and its specification and no refunds will be accepted.
The preferred method of payment is by bank transfer but please note these payments often go through instantly but can take up to 2 hours to show in our account and occasionally longer if they are held up for security checks, so we would recommend this payment is made 24 hours before collection so there is no delay on collection day.
If you wish to make this payment on the day of collection please note the vehicle will not be released under any circumstances until the funds have shown cleared in our account.
Balances can be paid in cash and the vehicle will be released immediately but due to money laundering regulations we are not able to accept more than £9000 in cash on any one single transaction.
All goods will remain the property of the seller until all outstanding balances have been paid in full.
Unfortunately we only accept debit cards for deposit payments of up to £300 and do not accept any form of card payment for balances due to the high fees charged by the card processing companies which is based on a percentage of the amount taken.
No vehicle will be released until all monies are showing as cleared in our account under any circumstances.
Collecting a vehicle
If there’s likely to be a delay in preparing your vehicle for collection you will be contacted as soon as possible. Please allow up to one hour to collect your car.
Valid UK / EU Driving Licence including photo section or Valid Passport is required for identification on every collection.
All our retail cars come with at least 1 month/1000 mile warranty, which is in addition to your statutory rights. The warranty includes the following customer benefits:
* Cover for a comprehensive list of mechanical and electrical components.
* £300 claim limit per claim.
* Unlimited claims up to a total of £1500
You will be provided with a warranty booklet listing the items covered by it and its terms and conditions and have the option to extend this warranty up to 24 months at an additional cost.
The warranty is on a return to base basis and it is the customer’s responsibility to return the car themselves at their own cost, unless specifically agreed in writing prior to actioning a repair.
We do not change timing belts on vehicles we supply as these are service items that you are responsible for in maintaining your vehicle. If you would like this item changing we are happy to have this carried out for you at your cost at trade prices.
The warranty does not included consequential damage which means if an item fails and you continue to use the vehicle which then causes damage to another item it is only the original failed item covered and additional items will be chargeable.
In the unlikely event of SCL CARS accepting the return of your vehicle for a refund. We will require the vehicle to be returned to our location in the same condition and with all paperwork ie:V5, Mot, Service History, Spare keys ect as when it was purchased.
Failure to return the vehicle with the above will result in £500 being withheld until a time that all the above items are returned.
The vehicle recovery and transportation are the responsibility of the Buyer.
We will also exercise our right to deduct a reasonable sum of money having taken in to account the usage of the vehicle and any failure to keep it in good repair and condition. This will include but not limited to our right to charge the consumer 45 pence per mile for each mile covered since the date of sale, along with the cost of any valeting and estimate for repairs required to any damage to the vehicles interior and exterior that was caused whilst the vehicle was in your possession.
All refunds will be processed no later than 14 days after the vehicle has been returned and payments will be by bank transfer to the name and account on the original invoice only.
On accessing the www.sclcars.co.uk on this and on each subsequent occasion you will be deemed to have accepted all of the terms and conditions that apply to its use and to the facilities and services provided by it. We reserve the right to alter these terms and conditions at any time and it is your obligation to check if changes have been made. Your use of www.sclcars.co.uk after changes are posted online shall constitute acceptance of the new terms and conditions.
Every effort has been made to confirm the specification of all our vehicles offered for sale, they are advertised over lots of different advertising platforms that are pre populated and mistakes do happen, please confirm with a salesman before travelling/leaving a deposit that the vehicle meets your requirements and needs, once a deposit has been left you will have deemed to satisfied yourself to condition and specification meeting your requirements.
I have examined the vehicle condition and have satisfied myself to its quality and condition and have checked the tyres/bodywork & paintwork, glass, interior trim and upholstery and accept it with its imperfections and acknowledge it may have had previous repairs to the bodywork and mechanicals.
When we have agreed to Mot a vehicle, we use an independent Mot testing station for transparency and it is company policy to repair any Mot failures but not an advisory item.
An advisory is an item that will need to be monitored and may need attention/replacing sometime in the future which is part of maintaining your vehicle in a roadworthy condition. If you would like us to also replace any advisory items please let us know and we will happily get these items changed for you but this additional work will be chargeable.
Distance Sales Scheme Statement
Please note we do not operate an organised distance selling scheme as defined by The Consumer Contracts (Cancellation, Information and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Therefore, even if you choose to not view your vehicle at our premises prior to purchase, you will not be entitled to cancel your order under any 14 day cancellation period. All other statutory rights remain unaffected.
Complaint and Feedback Procedure
We are committed to providing a high standard of service to you and all our customers. Occasionally we may not live up to our expectations and if this happens we would like to hear from you. This will allow us to put matters right and make improvements. We value your feedback and thank you for helping us treat all our valued customers fairly.
In the first instance, please share your complaint in person with our staff as they are usually best placed to resolve the concern.
